Pressoria: the most documented access stop

Pressoria occupies 11 boulevard Pierre Cheval in Aÿ-Champagne. Épernay tourism marks the site PMR and gives an average individual visit of 90 minutes, with French, English and Spanish visitor content. The route uses sensory and interactive displays; its museum-style experience is distinct from an underground tour at a Champagne producer.

The Épernay tourist office’s January 2024 accessibility catalogue records nearby wide parking, a lift, adapted toilets, an adapted visit route and a hearing loop at Pressoria. These facilities were declared in the office’s September 2023 partner survey. The listing is dated, so request the arrangement for your visit from Pressoria on +33 3 26 77 98 77.

Pressoria’s own practical information places free PMR parking on boulevard Pierre Cheval. It identifies Mouvéo line 10 from Épernay, with La Tour stop about 300 metres away. That distance does not establish that the pavement between the stop and reception is step-free. Give Pressoria your arrival method when asking for the entrance route.

Choose the sensory format and language

The official visitor description places Pressoria’s experience around five senses and ten rooms. For visitors who need a quieter visit, reduced audiovisual intensity or a particular communication format, send those requests to the reception team for the 90-minute route. The site’s PMR listing is evidence of published mobility provision, not a guarantee about every sensory requirement.

French Sign Language is LSF, while British Sign Language is BSL. The tourist-office catalogue documents a hearing loop at Pressoria; it does not establish a BSL-guided tour. Specify whether you need a loop, written explanations or an interpreter, and name the language. Épernay tourism lists French, English and Spanish for visits, with French and English spoken by staff.

The Musardises trail and Champagne houses

Aÿ’s Les Musardises circuit has 19 interpretation stops around the village. The tourist office’s village information and downloadable route identify heritage stops, but do not supply a complete gradient or dropped-kerb audit. Use the route to select particular addresses with reception; it should not be treated as a certified wheelchair circuit.

Bollinger lists its visitor address as 20 boulevard Maréchal-de-Lattre; AYALA is at 1 rue Edmond-de-Ayala; Geoffroy receives visitors at 4 rue de Janson. Their public booking routes are linked in the Aÿ guide. An appointment at one of those addresses needs its own request about cellar stairs, seated tasting and toilet access. Pressoria’s lift does not describe any of those three houses.

Station transfers and Mareuil appointments

Aÿ is a stop on the Reims–Épernay TER route, unlike Hautvillers. For station assistance, use SNCF Assist’enGare with the exact train; a station booking does not arrange a vehicle to boulevard Pierre Cheval. A’Gil Taxi’s Épernay listing includes PMR transport on +33 3 26 59 01 44.

In Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Philipponnat is at 13 rue du Pont and Billecart-Salmon at 40 rue Carnot. Billecart-Salmon handles visit enquiries directly through its conciergerie, with no general open-access admission. Identify the particular tasting or cellar request before arranging the Aÿ–Mareuil transfer; no verified wheelchair route for either house is asserted here.

Before you go

  • Save your booking confirmation and check its meeting point.
  • Carry the ID and travel documents required for your journey.
  • Wear comfortable shoes for town pavements and cellar floors.
  • Bring a layer for cooler underground spaces.
  • Arrange transport before tasting; never drink and drive.

What a Brit travelling here needs to know

  • Rail and flights: Eurostar links London St Pancras with Paris Gare du Nord; Reims and Épernay trains leave Paris Gare de l’Est. For a flight arrival, compare Paris Charles de Gaulle with your onward SNCF station and date in the transport guide.
  • Documents: for a British-citizen passport, GOV.UK specifies an issue date less than 10 years before arrival and expiry at least 3 months after leaving Schengen. Visa-free tourist visits are limited to 90 days in any 180. Read the current official entry requirements.
  • Money, language and clocks: France uses euros (€) and French; Champagne is 1 hour ahead of the UK. Select English explicitly on a house’s reservation page.
  • Local travel: Reims Centre and Champagne-Ardenne TGV are different stations. Épernay’s station serves the Avenue de Champagne; Hautvillers needs a road transfer. Use the car-free guide for named rail, taxi and tour options.

Entry details checked 23 October 2026. The official GOV.UK page covers other passport types and border procedures.
