Reims Christmas market 2026: dates & guide

Reims Christmas market runs from 25 November to 27 December 2026 on the Hautes Promenades Jean-Louis Schneiter and the esplanade de la Porte de Mars. Its 150 chalets make this a festive Reims break with time for a separately booked Champagne house visit.

25 November–27 December 2026

The City of Reims and Marne tourism advertise the 2026 Christmas Market for 25 November–27 December. The city places it on Hautes Promenades Jean-Louis Schneiter and the esplanade de la Porte de Mars. The cathedral quarter has separate festive attractions; the market should not be described as occupying only the cathedral forecourt.

Marne tourism describes 150 chalets with crafts, decorations, food and festive products, plus the Christmas tree and a 50 m Ferris wheel on place Drouet-d’Erlon. The detailed programme was still marked as being prepared in the retrieved October 2026 page. No unverified weekday opening-hour grid is reproduced.

A Reims Centre arrival

Continental Hotel is at 93 place Drouet-d’Erlon, on the square named in the festive programme. Hôtel Azur is in the Boulingrin district near the Porte de Mars side of the centre. Hôtel de la Paix at 9 rue Buirette gives another central base. The linked stay guide uses property-specific booking links and no invented seasonal room prices.

Combine the market with a named visit

Mumm’s visit calendar expands to daily visits in May–October and publishes its winter pattern separately. Mercier in Épernay operates Wednesday–Sunday from 18 November–27 December 2026, with 25 December closed. A market trip does not imply that every cellar in the region follows the market’s calendar.

Flâneries Musicales lists a Dmitry Masleev piano recital at Salle Louise, Domaine Pommery, on 16 December 2026 at 19:00. That is a separate ticketed evening option in Reims, with a different venue from the market. Habits de Lumière in Épernay falls on 11–13 December and needs its own travel or overnight plan.

A named cellar visit away from the stalls

Lanson offers visits in French and English for groups of one to 18 people. Its Original Creation experience lasts 90 minutes at €32, including Le Black Création. Emblematic, also 90 minutes, costs €40 and adds Le Rosé. These are the house’s official October 2026 tariffs, separate from purchases at the Christmas-market chalets.

The Signature visit lasts two hours at €55, with Le Black Création, Le Blanc de Blancs and Le Réserve Extra Brut. The Vintage experience is also two hours, at €85, with Le Black Création, Vintage 2014 and Clos Lanson 2011. Pick the actual experience on Lanson’s booking calendar rather than treating every cellar ticket as the same tasting.

A 90-minute reservation and a two-hour reservation occupy different parts of a short December day. Check the dated Lanson slot before committing to a timed market activity or a return train. The named wine list establishes what the cellar booking contains; Christmas-market food, a Ferris-wheel ride and public transport remain separate purchases.

Central hotels and the station choice

Reims tourism identifies the Continental Hotel at 93 place Drouet-d’Erlon and Hôtel de la Paix at 9 rue Buirette. Hôtel Azur is listed in the Boulingrin district. Use these named properties when comparing a central city stay with an outlying vineyard hotel: the market is in Reims, while Hautvillers and Épernay are separate destinations.

The Paris train to Reims Centre arrives at Cour de la Gare. SNCF Connect lists the fastest direct journey from Paris Est at 46 minutes; the actual last departure depends on the travel date. Champagne-Ardenne TGV is a different arrival point outside the city centre, so retain the complete station name when purchasing a connection.

Eurostar’s London–Paris service reaches Gare du Nord. The operator describes a walk of about ten minutes to Gare de l’Est, or the Métro line 4 connection towards Bagneux–Lucie Aubrac. A UK Christmas-market trip therefore involves separate Eurostar and onward rail choices; neither the market nor a Reims hotel reservation books that connection.

A different underground visit at Mumm

Mumm’s visitor entrance is 34 rue du Champ de Mars. The house dates its foundation to 1827 and describes 25km of cellars. Its standard Cordon Rouge visit lasts 90 minutes at €30 with one tasting; Pinot Noir Celebration lasts 90 minutes at €42 with Cordon Rouge and Rosé. The October 2026 tariff gives a concrete alternative to another hour among the market stalls.

Mumm requires an accompanying adult for visitors under 18 and excludes animals from its cellar visits.

Access and facilities

Use the city’s Christmas Market page for admission arrangements, temporary traffic rules and the released programme. No general chalet-entry charge, Ferris-wheel fare or guaranteed step-free route was verified in the retrieved October 2026 material. Paid rides and purchases should not be described as included in market access.

Reims tourist office at 6 rue Rockefeller supplies visitor information and directs travellers to the local transport network. Request the current accessible market route, toilet locations and crowd-control arrangements from the city or tourist office. A central hotel’s location does not establish accessible access to every temporary attraction.

For reduced mobility, Mumm states that only the first cellar level is accessible and asks visitors to notify the house when reserving. Contact guides@mumm.com with the chosen date and access requirement. This is a house-specific access condition, not a statement that the Christmas-market route has the same limitations.

Reims Centre station serves the city and is the appropriate name to search for a central market visit. Champagne-Ardenne TGV is outside Reims and requires an onward connection. SNCF Connect’s current Paris route includes direct TGV journeys from 46 minutes; the chosen November or December train supplies the actual arrival time.

What a Brit travelling here needs to know

  • Rail and flights: Eurostar links London St Pancras with Paris Gare du Nord; Reims and Épernay trains leave Paris Gare de l’Est. For a flight arrival, compare Paris Charles de Gaulle with your onward SNCF station and date in the transport guide.
  • Documents: for a British-citizen passport, GOV.UK specifies an issue date less than 10 years before arrival and expiry at least 3 months after leaving Schengen. Visa-free tourist visits are limited to 90 days in any 180. Read the current official entry requirements.
  • Money, language and clocks: France uses euros (€) and French; Champagne is 1 hour ahead of the UK. Select English explicitly on a house’s reservation page.
  • Local travel: Reims Centre and Champagne-Ardenne TGV are different stations. Épernay’s station serves the Avenue de Champagne; Hautvillers needs a road transfer. Use the car-free guide for named rail, taxi and tour options.

Entry details checked 23 October 2026. The official GOV.UK page covers other passport types and border procedures.
