Aÿ belongs to the historic vineyard component of the 2015 Champagne UNESCO listing; Avize and Vertus provide the Côte des Blancs contrast.

Suggested reservation slots

The times below are suggested reservation slots for Geoffroy, De Sousa and Larmandier-Bernier. The operator’s calendar supplies the actual departure; the paid ticket is tied to that departure. Accommodation for the named base

Search accommodation in Épernay through Find stays in Épernay ↗. The accommodation directory lists named properties by town; Booking.com supplies the current room terms and dates.

Book the route in this order

Obtain the De Sousa and Larmandier-Bernier appointment replies for Thursday, then book Geoffroy’s published Wednesday 10:30 departure. Pressoria’s €18 admission belongs to Wednesday afternoon in Aÿ. Request the Avize meal at Les Avisés separately and give the driver all three estate addresses before accepting the transport quote.the house directory to open the actual producer calendar. For this 5-stop route, reserve the paid appointments first, then the named restaurant, transport and accommodation. No 9:00 or 10:30 slot above becomes a ticket until the operator accepts it.

Access on this route

De Sousa advertises French Sign Language alongside English and French for appointment-based visits in Avize. Pressoria’s own practical-information page identifies facilities for visitors with disabilities; use the 11 boulevard Pierre Cheval entrance in Aÿ and request the assistance needed through its visitor team.

Wednesday: what Geoffroy’s terroir wines describe

Geoffroy moved its winemaking operation to 4 rue Jeanson in Aÿ in 2008, but its 14 hectares lie across Damery, Hautvillers, Fleury-la-Rivière and especially Cumières. The reception village therefore differs from the main vineyard village. The family began producing its own bottles with Roger and Julienne Geoffroy in the early 1950s; Jean-Baptiste later moved the business to Aÿ with Karine. The €40 Wednesday booking introduces that working estate and includes three Champagnes de Terroir.

The current Expression sheet gives 40% Pinot Noir, 35% Meunier and 25% Chardonnay, with half the blend from 2020 and half from a perpetual reserve begun in the 1970s. It lists 36 months of bottle maturation and 3.5 g/L dosage. Pureté uses the same three-grape shares but the published release has 60 months on laths and zero dosage. These are named bottle comparisons for the producer discussion; the visit page does not guarantee either cuvée in the three served wines.

Pressoria supplies the wider Champagne background

Pressoria occupies a former Pommery press house at 11 boulevard Pierre Cheval, in the same Aÿ day as Geoffroy. The €18 adult ticket covers the sensory route and tasting; the €45 family price covers two adults and two children. Its practical-information page gives the visitor contact and facilities. The interpretation centre explains Champagne through an exhibition format, while the morning appointment is at Geoffroy’s own production site. The mapped walk between rue Jeanson and Pressoria is about 520 metres or seven minutes.

Aÿ’s Musardises circuit has nineteen stops. The historic vineyard slopes around Aÿ, Hautvillers and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ form one of the three components in UNESCO’s 2015 Champagne listing. Saint-Nicaise Hill in Reims and the Avenue de Champagne with Fort Chabrol in Épernay form the other two. This grower itinerary visits the vineyard villages and estate addresses; it does not include a Reims crayère tour or access to every property within the World Heritage boundary.

Thursday: the De Sousa wines and Avize address

De Sousa’s estate description gives eleven hectares in forty-two plots, with a vineyard mix of 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 10% Meunier. Its 3A cuvée joins three named Grand Cru villages: 50% Chardonnay from Avize, 25% Pinot Noir from Aÿ and 25% Pinot Noir from Ambonnay. That bottle connects Wednesday’s Aÿ stop with Thursday’s Côte des Blancs appointment. The 12 place Léon Bourgeois visit must be arranged through the producer; no standard tour tariff is published on its contact page.

Mycorhize is De Sousa’s 100% Chardonnay wine with 3 g/L dosage; the producer names 225-litre oak barrels, indigenous yeasts and horse ploughing in its account. Cuvée des Caudalies is another blanc de blancs, from vines over fifty years old and vinified in oak. The contact page offers French, English and French Sign Language. The old summer-closure notice there is explicitly from 2024, so it is not used to rule out a Thursday appointment in 2026 or 2027.

Vertus and a named lunch reservation

Larmandier-Bernier’s family chronology begins in 1765; the combined estate name dates to Philippe Larmandier and Elisabeth Bernier in 1971. Pierre and Sophie joined in 1988, biodynamic farming across the estate dates to 1999, and the chronology records a new winery in 2010 and a further chai in 2025. The visitor address is 19 avenue du Général de Gaulle in Vertus. Longitude is a Chardonnay blend from Vertus, Oger, Avize and Cramant; Latitude focuses on the south of Vertus.

Les Avisés supplies a specific Avize meal option at 59 rue de Cramant. The tourist-office listing names chef Stéphane Rossillon and Nathalie Rossillon, a twenty-cover restaurant and a ten-room hotel. The property is the restored Selosse house, but a restaurant table does not include a Jacques Selosse cellar visit. For Wednesday in Aÿ, Avarum is at 18 rue Roger Sondag and Rôtisserie Henri IV at 62 boulevard Charles de Gaulle. These are separate table requests from the Geoffroy booking.

A booked Avize alternative with a published tariff

Michel Gonet’s Avize cellar product is ninety minutes at €55, including three cuvées and a glass of Ratafia. The producer lists English as the default language and warns of numerous stairs and production-related rescheduling. This is a priceable alternative to an unquoted De Sousa appointment, but the booking addresses must not be combined: Gonet’s separate Épernay three-wine tasting lasts thirty minutes from €24 and does not include the Avize cellars.

For the overnight base in Aÿ instead of Épernay, Castel Jeanson is at 24 rue Jeanson, the same street as Geoffroy’s number 4 reception. The tourist-office listing identifies a pool, secure parking and a lift serving most rooms. Le Clos d’Aÿ at 17 rue Jules Lobet has four guest rooms, a garden and limited courtyard parking that must be reserved. The different room types and the word most in the lift description matter when requesting a particular accessible room.

Mareuil-sur-Aÿ provides another named estate stay: Le Clos Corbier at 5 boulevard Nicolas François Billecart. The same address runs La Table du Clos, a table d’hôte with Champagne-pairing and cellar-discovery offers. Manoir Henri Giraud is instead at 83 boulevard Charles de Gaulle in Aÿ, with five rooms, a Table Expérience and its Craÿothérapie spa. These are specific accommodation and meal services; neither stay is a substitute for Geoffroy’s adults-only Wednesday 10:30 booking or Larmandier-Bernier’s direct estate appointment.

  • Bring a layer for cooler underground spaces.
  • Arrange transport before tasting; never drink and drive.

What a Brit travelling here needs to know

  • Rail and flights: Eurostar links London St Pancras with Paris Gare du Nord; Reims and Épernay trains leave Paris Gare de l’Est. For a flight arrival, compare Paris Charles de Gaulle with your onward SNCF station and date in the transport guide.
  • Documents: for a British-citizen passport, GOV.UK specifies an issue date less than 10 years before arrival and expiry at least 3 months after leaving Schengen. Visa-free tourist visits are limited to 90 days in any 180. Read the current official entry requirements.
  • Money, language and clocks: France uses euros (€) and French; Champagne is 1 hour ahead of the UK. Select English explicitly on a house’s reservation page.
  • Local travel: Reims Centre and Champagne-Ardenne TGV are different stations. Épernay’s station serves the Avenue de Champagne; Hautvillers needs a road transfer. Use the car-free guide for named rail, taxi and tour options.

Entry details checked 23 October 2026. The official GOV.UK page covers other passport types and border procedures.
