The Reims plan puts Taittinger on Saturday and Mumm on Sunday. Taittinger’s Saint-Nicaise visitor entrance and Mumm’s Champ-de-Mars entrance lie in different parts of the city. Splitting them across 2 days avoids a cellar-to-cellar transfer at lunchtime.

Suggested reservation slots

The times below are suggested reservation slots for the named Reims and Épernay houses. The operator’s calendar supplies the actual departure; the paid ticket is tied to that departure. Numbered map points follow the Champagne stops. Allow extra time for stops between the numbered map points.

Friday 17:00 — Reims station

Cour de la Gare, Reims. Arrive at Reims Centre, the station beside the central city. Champagne-Ardenne TGV is a different station at Bezannes; it needs an onward connection. Use the exact station printed on the SNCF ticket.

14 place Myron Herrick, Reims. Book lunch through the restaurant website. The Jacques Simon Art Deco glass ceiling is part of the reason to eat here. Verified purchases and the unpriced parts

Saturday:Taittinger Instant Rosé from €40. Sunday:Mumm Cordon Rouge Experience from €30. The 2 entry visits total €70 per adult; choosing Mumm’s €60 Vintage Grand Cru instead raises the combined house-ticket cost to €100. Meals, trains, local transport, premium Taittinger upgrades and accommodation are extra. Prices checked October 2026; availability and selected options determine the booking total.

Accommodation for the named base

Search accommodation in Reims through Find hotels in Reims. The accommodation directory lists named properties by town; Booking.com supplies the current room terms and dates.

Book the route in this order

Reserve Taittinger’s Instant Rosé on Saturday and Mumm’s Cordon Rouge Experience on Sunday. Request Café du Palais for Saturday lunch; its Sunday closure is why the meal is not placed after Mumm. Then book the dated Eurostar and SNCF trains, using Reims Centre for the city arrival.the house directory to open the actual producer calendar. For this 6-stop route, reserve the paid appointments first, then the named restaurant, transport and accommodation. No 9:00 or 10:30 slot above becomes a ticket until the operator accepts it.

Access on this route

Taittinger’s official booking pages describe numerous stairs in the underground route at 9 place Saint-Nicaise. The quoted cellar temperature is about 12°C. A city-centre pavement route and the underground visit have different access conditions; send the exact assistance request to Taittinger before buying the named experience.

Read the cathedral during Saturday’s first hour

At Notre-Dame, start with the left-hand portal of the western façade for the Smiling Angel, then move inside to the axial chapel for Marc Chagall’s three blue windows, installed in 1974. The city’s 33 coronations run from Louis the Pious in 816 to Charles X in 1825 in the tourist-office account. Charles VII’s ceremony is the Joan of Arc connection behind Reims’s medieval festival. Those dates belong to the city’s coronation history; they are not all ceremonies in the present 13th-century building.

The cathedral floor and the paid high-level route are separate visits. The Centre des monuments nationaux counts 249 steps on the tower circuit, which reaches the kings’ gallery 40 metres above ground and gives a view of Henri Deneux’s concrete roof frame. The oak roof burned on 19 September 1914; Deneux’s reconstruction dates to 1924–1926. A tower reservation should replace part of the morning programme, because the 10:30 Taittinger slot already has its own arrival deadline.

Taittinger: the alternative tickets for the same address

Instant Rosé at 9 place Saint-Nicaise is the €40, 70-minute entry choice. Taittinger also lists Instant Comtes de Champagne at €90 for 105 minutes: Brut Réserve, Prélude Grands Crus and Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs. Instant Duo Comtes is €100 for 90 minutes and compares Comtes Blanc de Blancs with Comtes Rosé. The durations and prices apply to these named adult products, checked October 2026; a more expensive ticket changes the time needed before the booked lunch.

Taittinger’s Instant Famille is another 70-minute format, with an art workshop for children and Brut Réserve and Prestige Rosé for adults. The listed child price is €25 and adult price €40. The separate 45-minute Atelier Jeu d’assemblage costs €60 and lists Prélude Grands Crus, Brut Millésimé 2016 and Folies de la Marquetterie. These are distinct reservation products at the house, not five tastings automatically included in Instant Rosé.

Sunday at Mumm: choose the actual tasting

The €30 Cordon Rouge Experience lasts 90 minutes and ends with Mumm Cordon Rouge. The €42 Pinot Noir Celebration Experience, also 90 minutes, adds Mumm Rosé alongside Cordon Rouge. At €60, the 90-minute Vintage Grand Cru Experience uses RSRV Blanc de Blancs and RSRV Blanc de Noirs. French, English, Italian and Spanish are advertised by Mumm; the selected calendar departure determines the guide language. The entrance remains 34 rue du Champ de Mars for this Sunday visit.

Meals and rooms on the central-city route

Café du Palais is the Saturday lunch at 14 place Myron Herrick, beneath Jacques Simon’s Art Deco glass ceiling. For dinner near the station, the tourist office lists L’Edito at 78–80 place Drouet-d’Erlon, L’Apostrophe at 59 and Brasserie Excelsior at 96. In the Boulingrin quarter, Trésors de Champagne at 2 rue Olivier Métra is a grower-Champagne shop and tasting address. It gives the northern-city walk a specific wine stop without another underground tour.

Continental Hotel is at 93 place Drouet-d’Erlon, on the square used for Sunday’s final city stop. Best Western Premier Hôtel de la Paix is at 9 rue Buirette and has its own bar, restaurant and indoor pool in the tourist listing. Hôtel Azur is the alternative for the Boulingrin district. The property links in the accommodation guide open those particular hotels; none of the advertised room amenities establishes that a Champagne-house visit is included.

Saturday’s optional market start and Friday dinner

For a market-first Saturday, use an 08:00 stop at the Halles du Boulingrin before the 09:00 cathedral visit. The city lists Saturday trading from 06:00 until 14:00; the building dates to 1929. Friday trading ends at 13:00 in the city’s current timetable, so the Friday 17:00 arrival in this plan is too late for that session. Trésors de Champagne’s shop at 2 rue Olivier Métra is a separate business, with its own opening arrangements. The market hours are not the shop’s hours.

Friday dinner can be requested at Brasserie du Boulingrin, 31 rue de Mars. Its own contact page lists order-taking Monday–Saturday from 12:00–14:30 and 18:30–23:00, and the €27 (checked October 2026) formula includes a drink and coffee as well as three courses. The restaurant reservation only takes effect after its reply. For a later city-centre evening, the named Drouet-d’Erlon restaurants are L’Edito, L’Apostrophe and Excelsior; no Friday table availability is inferred from their tourist-office listings.

Before the Sunday train, Maison Fossier at 25 cours Jean-Baptiste Langlet is the named cathedral-area biscuit shop to research for opening. Biscuits roses, croquignoles and bouchons au marc are the products in the tourist-office description. The factory visitor offer is at La Neuvillette, outside this central weekend route. For a longer third day, the Musée de la Reddition at 12 rue Franklin Roosevelt preserves the map room associated with the surrender signed on 7 May 1945. That museum is a separate reservation enquiry from either Champagne house.

Optional Sunday alternative — Saint-Remi Basilica

For a church-and-architecture Sunday, replace the Mumm appointment with Saint-Remi Basilica at Place Chanoine Ladame. The eleventh-century church has a Romanesque nave, a Gothic choir and Saint Remi’s tomb, reconstructed in 1847. It is a separate building from Notre-Dame Cathedral.

The diocese describes a 126m-long building and a six-metre crown of light with 96 candles. The basilica and former abbey belong to Reims’s 1991 UNESCO property. The adjoining Musée Saint-Remi uses 53 rue Simon; allow a separate visit for the museum. Basilica information and assistance contact · Walking directions from Place Drouet-d’Erlon.

Before you go

  • Save your booking confirmation and check its meeting point.
  • Carry the ID and travel documents required for your journey.
  • Wear comfortable shoes for town pavements and cellar floors.
  • Bring a layer for cooler underground spaces.
  • Arrange transport before tasting; never drink and drive.

What a Brit travelling here needs to know

  • Rail and flights: Eurostar links London St Pancras with Paris Gare du Nord; Reims and Épernay trains leave Paris Gare de l’Est. For a flight arrival, compare Paris Charles de Gaulle with your onward SNCF station and date in the transport guide.
  • Documents: for a British-citizen passport, GOV.UK specifies an issue date less than 10 years before arrival and expiry at least 3 months after leaving Schengen. Visa-free tourist visits are limited to 90 days in any 180. Read the current official entry requirements.
  • Money, language and clocks: France uses euros (€) and French; Champagne is 1 hour ahead of the UK. Select English explicitly on a house’s reservation page.
  • Local travel: Reims Centre and Champagne-Ardenne TGV are different stations. Épernay’s station serves the Avenue de Champagne; Hautvillers needs a road transfer. Use the car-free guide for named rail, taxi and tour options.

Entry details checked 23 October 2026. The official GOV.UK page covers other passport types and border procedures.
