Regalia at two Reims monuments
Regalia is the city’s outdoor video-and-music projection on Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Basilica Saint-Remi. Reims tourist office’s 2026 page gives a season start of 29 May 2026. The city describes the performances as free, with no reservation required.
The cathedral and basilica are separate locations. The cathedral stands beside rue Rockefeller in the centre; Saint-Remi lies in the southern historic quarter. A listing for one façade should not be treated as a promise of a simultaneous show at the other. Use the city programme to select the monument and performance date.
A programme linked to Reims’s royal history
The city’s description connects Regalia to the emotion and spectacle of royal coronations. Its account records the extension to Saint-Remi’s façade in 2021. Notre-Dame, the Palace of Tau and the former Abbey of Saint-Rémi are the three elements of the separate 1991 UNESCO Reims property.
The exact final date and exceptions in the 2026 season were not consistently confirmed by the retrieved official listings. No universal winter schedule or 2027 season is published here. The official Reims programme is the booking-free source for the next available performance.

Where to stay and how to arrive
A central Reims room at Hôtel de la Paix on rue Buirette or Continental Hotel on place Drouet-d’Erlon works as a base for the cathedral quarter. For Saint-Remi, choose the evening’s monument before arranging the walk or local transport; the two façades belong to different parts of the city.
The story behind the projection
Moment Factory’s Paris studio developed Regalia for Reims in 2019. The creative producer describes two chapters, at the cathedral and Saint-Remi basilica, built around the coronation of French kings. Its cathedral sequence begins with projected clues before moving into coronation rituals and the dove associated with the Holy Ampulla.
The producer credits original music to Guillaume Brière, local composers and the cathedral’s Maîtrise. Regalia received the public-choice award in the liturgical category at the 2020 CODAawards. Reims subsequently introduced the Saint-Remi chapter in 2021. Those dates identify Regalia’s production history; the city publishes the dated evening performance calendar separately for the two monument façades.
Moment Factory’s original basilica concept included a mobile mission on the south side and a celebration of the new king on the west side. The city’s dated timetable identifies the chapter shown at the cathedral or Saint-Remi on a particular evening. The original production description documents the work’s design; the current city programme supplies the operational performance details for the selected night.

A Reims cellar appointment before the evening show
Taittinger’s visitor site is at 9 place Saint-Nicaise. Its underground route descends 18 metres into Gallo-Roman chalk quarries and remains of the former abbey, with a stated cellar temperature of 12°C. The house offers visits in French and English. This is a separate daytime booking from Regalia’s outdoor projection.
The official Instant Rosé experience lasts 70 minutes and costs €40, including Brut Réserve and Prestige Rosé. The Comtes experience lasts 105 minutes at €90 and includes Brut Réserve, Prélude and Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs. Those prices were checked in October 2026; select the named experience and a dated slot on Taittinger’s own booking site.
For a different tasting format, the house lists the 45-minute Assemblage experience at €60, featuring Prélude, Brut 2016 and Les Folies de la Marquetterie. Comparing the precise duration and wines makes it possible to reserve an afternoon session without confusing a tasting-only format with the full underground route.
Arrival and an overnight in central Reims
SNCF Connect lists direct Paris Est–Reims journeys as short as 46 minutes. Reims Centre arrives at Cour de la Gare, while Champagne-Ardenne TGV is a separate station outside the centre. An evening visitor travelling from London changes stations in Paris: Eurostar arrives at Gare du Nord, and its station guidance describes roughly ten minutes on foot to Gare de l’Est.
The Continental Hotel is at 93 place Drouet-d’Erlon, Hôtel de la Paix at 9 rue Buirette, and Hôtel Azur in the Boulingrin district. These properties are specific central Reims addresses for an overnight after the projections; the vineyard villages require a separate onward journey. Their exact property links appear on our stays page; a room in Épernay would require an onward journey after the Reims show.
The official Regalia page provides the dated performance calendar. Use SNCF’s date-specific Reims departure search to match the return train to that chapter’s actual performance time and viewing location. If the final available train precedes the projection, use a Reims overnight or an independently arranged transfer; a free Regalia performance does not include transport to another town.
Regalia is free, with no reservation required on the city’s published information.
Access and facilities
Regalia takes place outdoors and does not require the purchase of an indoor cathedral tour. The city’s event page and Reims tourist office are the sources for current accessible viewing arrangements, temporary street controls and local transport. No reserved wheelchair-viewing location or public-toilet timetable was verified in the retrieved October 2026 material.
Reims’s city page identifies the cathedral and Saint-Remi basilica as separate Regalia settings. Give the tourist office the selected date and venue when asking about step-free approach or viewing arrangements. A Taittinger cellar access enquiry and a Regalia outdoor viewing enquiry concern different entrances and different organisers.
Reims Centre is the city station served by direct Paris Est TGVs taking as little as 46 minutes. Champagne-Ardenne TGV requires an onward connection. Regalia is an evening projection, so the last return train must come from the chosen date’s SNCF result; no unverified last-train time is supplied.
